The existing Day Theatre Department contained three existing Theatres and a Day ward and the brief required the provision of three new Laminar flow Theatres whilst retaining the operation of two of the existing Theatres. The existing Day ward was relocated to provide the additional area required to create the new Theatres. Each Theatre was provided with the supporting accommodation of an Anaesthetic room, Preparation Room and Dirty Utility room. The remaining department was totally refurbished providing a new recovery area, reception, waiting and associated Theatre ancillary rooms and staff facilities.

The scheme was undertaken in 5 phases over period of 18 months, maintaining the integrity of clinical areas throughout the construction period.
