HL Design were commissioned by Swansea NHS Trust to design the complete refurbishment and new extension of the existing Radiotherapy Department at Singleton Hospital. The project required the construction of four new treatment bunkers with associated supporting accommodation to the ground floor whist the administration department and link bridge to the existing wards were located on the first floor. The new extension was constructed within a constrained site adjacent to the existing radiotherapy department. The existing department, some 80 rooms, were also fully refurbished, in phases, whilst maintaining the operation of the department. The design was organic in nature forming a strong statement against the backdrop of the existing building profiles
