HL Design have carried out numerous strategic studies for Trusts and Local Health Boards.
In 1996 we were appointed to carry out a development plan for the Velindre Hospital Site. The brief was to identify and agree the Trusts long term strategies and secondly to provide a basis for an on going dialogue with the local planning department. This exercise ensured a smooth process when submitting future planning applications as the major planning principles had been agreed beforehand. Over a period of eight years all the developments were successfully procured without any planning issues.
In 2006 the practice was appointed by Swansea NHS Trust to carry out a study entitled “ Reshaping Health Services in Swansea”, to identify alternative sites for a new hospital to replace the existing Singleton and Morriston Hospitals.
During 2009 and 2010 the practice was appointed to lead a strategic study of Velindre Hospital, this focused on the long term future of the Hospital. HL Design worked closely with the hospital team, Medical Planners, Quantity Surveyors and Highway Engineers to identify the hospitals existing problems and future requirements. The study provided a number of costed future solutions. The study was prepared for submission to the Welsh Assembly Government.
