HL Design were appointed by ABMU Health Board to provide Architectural, Principal Designer & Project Management Services for the refurbishment of a decommissioned Linear Accelerator bunker. The project consisted of the refurbishment of the existing bunker, its control area, access maze corridor, mould room workshop, waiting area, plant room, conversion of patient mould room to office and a new roof membrane over all of the above.
The project included stripping out of finishes, removal of existing storage units, removal of existing ceilings and lighting etc, demolitions of walls, construction of new walls , additional radiation protection to both ground floor and bunker maze and roof, relocation of existing plant serving other areas, installation of new plant and services, construction of new equipment chiller housing, new roof ductwork and membrane, fitting out all areas complete with finishes and services.
